Virtual Geographic Library Database
German Version

GEODOK is a database which contains more than 140.000 entries concerning geographically related literature since 1950. It provides the bibliographical data for scientific articles (primarily in German, English and French) indexed by keywords. GEODOK is a product of the Department of Geography of Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU).

Retrieval of Literature

In order to use link services like , or to retrieve fulltexts or local holding informations please submit the URL-address of your local resolver. Ask your local librarian about this address or you could pick one from this list of OpenURL resolver. This setting has to be done using a cookie. The current default resolver is ISI by 1cate. Athens-users (UK) should use the OpenURL Router.

Hints and FAQs

• Truncation: When entering your search, one letter can be replaced by ?, several letters by *.
• Searching for an author, just enter the last name and the first letter of the first name (e.g. Meyer, G.).
• Umlauts: Searching for an author umlauts can be substituted like ae=ä, oe=ö, ue=ü and ss=ß.
  Typing Mueller searchs for Müller, Mueller and Muller.
• Searching for a certain topic, please make use of our thesaurus (a list of possible keywords).
• If your subject is regionally limited, you should always enter the regional topic or use the ISO 3166 Country Code.
• All inputs in the specific search fields are connected with AND. Therefore the more words you enter, less results will be displayed.
